Pluies Acides = Digipak = (CD)
CITADEL was a French power-trio created in the year 2002, led by keyboardist-guitarist and singer Frédéric MARTIN-BOUYER. Undoubtely inspired by the local heroes NOIR DESIR (That is especially obvous when the vocals switch from English to French), the musicians learned to evolve in the direction of the sophisticated rock played by MUSE or ARCHIVE, without forgetting some post-rock traces, early PINK FLOYD influences and the spirit of the Seventies Progressive rock scene. The work is based on a strong guitar and piano interplay, and sustained by a solid rhythmic section. The sometimes pop melodies, expressed in eleven concise songs and instrumental pieces, are full of energy. And when guest-singer Astrid KAROUAL enters the stage (On two tracks), one could really think this is a new incarnation of PAATOS, full of crimsonian riffs and Mellotron-like samples. Published on the Musea Parallèle label in the year 2006, the second album "Pluies Acides" reveals a diversity of influences and musical structures, as well as some experiments hidden behind an accessible and melodic form.
