Although best known in Europe as the 'Queen Of Rockabilly", Wanda Jackson was a straight Country hit maker during the 60s and 70s. Her recording career bounced back and forth between country and rockabilly which she did by often putting one song in each style on each side of a single. These two Capitol albums released in 1963 and 1964 are both themed collections. The 1963 album, "Love Me Forever" being built naturally enough around love songs and the second "Blues In My Heart" devoted to songs involving a blues theme. In 1952 aged 15 Wanda won a local talent competition, which resulted in a radio show of her own and from 1955 she was a part of Red Foley's Ozark Jubilee TV show, working with the country legend until 1962. In 1955 she toured with Elvis Presley and it was Presley who encouraged her to take the rockabilly route to fame. Wanda recorded another 16 albums before leaving Capitol in 1972 to concentrate on Christian recordings, before being lured back in to the rockabilly fold after invitations to perform at festivals in Europe where she still regularly appears. In 2009 she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and although better known as a rock and roll performer, it is with albums like these that Wanda Jackson really made her name in country circles.
