Torben Schmidt is better known as the lead singer with Danish melodic rockers Skagarack. That band are one of Denmark's best loved bands, having up till that point released three quality albums ('Skagarack' 1987, 'Hungry For A Game' 1988, and 'Slice Of Heaven' 1990). Schmidt decided to go solo in 1990, hence the appearance of this album 'A Little Bit On The Side' the following year. It may as well be Skagarack Part IV, such is the similarity. Consider also the guitar prowess of ex Easy Action and Europe string bender Kee Marcello, plus fellow Dane Torben Johansen (from cult Danish AOR outfit De5). Other notable contributors who also turn up to play include Steen Boel, the Skagarack keyboardist, plus vocal queen Joal, a cult AOR heroine of the genre. By nature, the songs on the album are very strong. Given the lineup that's not surprising. The mix between all-out rockers and ballads is balanced accordingly, giving it consistency throughout.
