Jeff Beck took considerable time off following the release of Wired in 1976. The legendary guitarist finally returned with a new studio recording in 1980, with the much anticipated There And Back album. Once more, Beck laid on a steady dose of tasty guitar driven instrumentals, augmented with keyboard work from Jan Hammer, as well as Tony Hymas. Taking the recording to a funky fusion bend with the ever-present jazz edge added to the mix, the eight song effort opens with the five-minute "Star Cycle", and features "The Pump", "El Becko", and the wild "Space Boogie". Beck brings the album to a stylish close with "The Final Peace".
