Jack Hammond's debut album 'Open the Doors' is a captivating early '80s private press amalgamation of progressive guitar rock fusion and psych-prog with an unexpectedly anachronistic '60s blues/psychedelic touch. Its tracks, dense with intricate patterns and mercurial peaks, draw upon classical structures, country blues finger-picking reminiscent of John Fahey's American Primitive style, and psychedelic nuances, making this Chicago-based guitarist's work both hypnotically unique and conceptually cool.
