1985 was to see Lez Cheetham replaced by American guitarist Greg Reiter, formerly of Metal Wolf, and this line-up was to record the 'Killer Elite' album. Reiter had, in an earlier time, played shows in Philadelphia as a member of Johnny Bongiovi And The Wild Ones.... No guesses what became of Mr. Bongiovi. The band played shows through America's East Coast which included dates opening for US Power Metal act Liege Lord. Part way through the tour, it all fell apart and with things seemingly at an all time low for the band, vocalist Ian Swift was to join fellow North Eastern band Atomkraft As a swansong, 'Killer Elite' proved a fitting final release. Avenger's relatively brief shot at the big time was explosive and entertaining. Very much of its time, and all the better for it.
