Way back when I first listened to this album, it managed to get corrupted or something and as a result I lost all the tracks except two. For whatever reason (because I'm an idiot), I'd never really gotten around to listening to this album again. Last week I decided to give it a listen and I've spent most the week listening to it over and over. This isn't perfection, but damnit it's close. This album flows so well together. This is something that is supposed to be common in progressive metal, but here it is done so incredibly that it makes the whole album that much better. What's even more astounding is that it is so well pieced together yet mixes and dips into so many different styles. This album is largely progressive, but there are a lot of symphonic, death metal, melodic and, most obviously, folk elements. They all work together so well that it's hard to believe that this was pulled off, but for sure Mabool is one of the best metal albums I have heard.
