Marduk are yet another staple of the black metal genre that I've listened to quite a bit, but still have most of their essential early albums left to hear. Their modern albums have been pleasantly well produced, skirting the line between more mainstream sensibilities and approperiately muddy realms. The band has been productive to say the least, with their fourteenth album since their inception in 1990 now being released. Viktoria is yet another Marduk album colored by World War II themes, yet this time around the band has adopted a much more crusty and provocative production to go with the music.
