Live in Japan was recorded at a 1992 concert that included older songs ("Narita," "Tokyo Rose") as well as their late-'80s and early-'90s material ("Flight of the Warrior," "Johnny's Back"). Live in Japan buy CD music Singer Tony Moore -- who was not the original vocalist on the many of the songs -- spends a lot of time trying to sound like Rob Halford, and he pulls it off quite well. The tracks are a satisfying mix (including a cover of "Smoke on the Water," complete with a horn section) from a band who had went through as many lineups as style changes, and while Live in Japan is entertaining, it's probably best left to Riot diehards.
