& Ahava ?- Matka (CD)
Founded in 1999 and later propped up with double bass, Ahava performs Finnish poetry woven into a musical fabric by its leader Mia Simanainen. Ahava has produced two albums, a debut 'Ahava' (Fiasko Records 2001), and 'Matka' (Eclipse Music 2012). The second album, also highly acclaimed by critics, created a beautifully balanced synthesis of a Finnish modernist Helvi Juvonen's poems and jazz music with a scent of Finnish soil. Ahava's visionary instrumentalists ensured expressive and elegant outcome and strong cohesion within the band members, music and lyrics.
