Chilean bass player Jorge CAMPOS has been considered as one of the best bass players in Latin America and built up a reputation for himself as a master in his instrument. He built his career in the resistance during the dictatorship, being a composer and musician for bands such as SANTIAGO DEL NUEVO EXTREMO, EL CONGRESO and FULANO. After a first solo album ("La Magia Necesaria", 1993), he recorded "Machi" in the year 2000. Today reissued by the labels Musea and Luna Negra, this bass solo album combines ethnic fusion and experimental rock, played on a great variety of basses. The manufacturer Warwick made one especially for Jorge CAMPOS, called the "Machi Bass", a tribute to the woman spiritual healers in the Mapuche tribe. Also reissued by the labels Musea and Luna Negra, "La Ausencia De Lo Sagrado" (2003) presents a combination of experimental fusion and songs. For those who are fond of Percy JONES (BRAND X) or Jaco PASTORIUS (WEATHER REPORT), there's a lot to enjoy here !
