In the series of the great revelations of the Japanese Progressive rock scene, here is FLAT122 ! Good shot again by the Poseidon label that, with the contribution of its partner Musea, found this instrumental outfit with a quite enigmatic patronymic. "The Waves" (2005) is how they named their first album. This Japanese trio plays a very original and a bit disconcerting music, although not unpleasant at all. It is a kind of quite particular Progressive jazz-rock, somewhere between GONG, SIDE STEPS, Erik SATIE, Pat METHENY, THE ENID and KING CRIMSON. Nothing less ! But it would be useless to try and make real comparisons, as this band has a sound and a style of its own. This is a unique work, to be discovered absolutely ! Four years weren't enough to make FLAT 122 a bad band. This would be quite the opposite, by the way ! The second opus "Kagerou" (2009) demonstates this brightly. Sometimes intimistic, most of the time eclectic, always captivating, those twelve tracks (Including one live) may be on air quite a lot, with the risk of your ears being marked for a long time. Not to be missed !
