With a little less than handful of studio albums under his belt Taj Mahal goes to the Fillmore and shows he can deliver the real thing on stage while further displaying the credentials that made him one of the most interesting and daring solo artists ever, with a real talent to elude stereotypes both in song format and arrangements, and the capacity to depart from traditional melodic and harmonic structures and convert them into something that sounded brand new and unique; if his ability to pen immortal songs served him well in his task, so did his multi-instrumentalist skills, as often exhibited during the little over an hour this originally double album lasts.
