Four-hour 3CD overview of the 1967 American music scene. A dazzling cornucopia of psychedelia, garage punk, folk rock and sunshine pop that served as the soundtrack for the Summer of Love. by 1967, the eternally restless spirit of rock had left Liverpool, the British Invasion and Swinging London behind and found a new place to settle. The new creative epicenter of the scene was San Francisco, from where the tentacles of the underground spread across the country and beyond as flower power blossomed in full glory. Comprising three CDs and four hours of music, March Of The Flower Children surveys the sounds of American rock and pop music in a year that would go down in the history books as the "Summer of Love." New names - The Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, Vanilla Fudge, Strawberry Alarm Clock - meet established hitmakers (The Monkees, The Byrds, Lovin' Spoonful, etc.), an emerging generation of singer / songwriters (Tim Rose, Tim Buckley), and a handful of older acts putting on a flowery coat of paint (Tommy Roe, the Everly Brothers, Jan & Dean). Amid such a blissful scene, we also find room for not-so-cheerful jokers like The Velvet Underground, The Mothers Of Invention, and Captain Beefheart, all of whom had little in common with the Peace 'n' Love mood that surrounded them.
