Born to Be is the debut album of singer Melanie and was released in 1968. She signed with Buddah Records and had her first chart success in Europe in 1969 with "Bobo's Party" (No. 1 in France). Billboard praised her voice "wise and ahead of its time"
Her nonconformist attitude on this album made her a new talent to be reckoned with. Just one year later, she took Woodstock by storm.
