Feel Like Coming Home (CD)
When Spice, well known for his former engagement as vocalist of Spiritual Beggars, became fed up with the typical compromises forced upon a musician playing in a band he started his solo project Spice And The RJ Band. The outfit released two albums - The Will (2007) and Shave Your Fear (2009) - they reflected Spice's preferences for the Blues, Soul, and Hard Rock genres. The R in RJ stood for drummer Bob Ruben, the J for bass player Johan (who's last name isn't even familiar to people close to the band). Since then the team was joined by guitarist, Anders Linusson and they changed the name to Band Of Spice. Spice follows the good old RJ Band tradition and delivers a wide range of rock'n'roll, sometimes bluesy, sometimes souly, but always straight to the point. It can at times live up to the highly influential and much celebrated Spiritual Beggars masterpiece, Ad Astra. The rumor is that more than on song on Fell Like Coming Home has spun in Spice's mind ever since the Ad Astra recordings. When it comes to the lyrics, Spice settles the score with some old demons - incl. alcoholism - that haunted him in the course of his career. Listen to "Turn Your Face", "Last Day", or the title track and get kicked in. Or just forget about the skip button and be drawn into the flow of the whole record. It never gets old and you'll feel the urge to listen to the hits a second, third, or fourth time.
