This session, which the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band put together but which actually stars the aging greats of hillbilly music, "including Roy Acuff, Mother Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Merle Travis, Pete "Oswald" Kirby, Norman Blake, Jimmy Martin, and others" (sez Wikipedia) includes some of the most beautiful and rousing music I've ever heard. Docked a half-point because there's so much of it, some of which (especially instrumental tracks) will appear redundant to non-aficionados. Try the groovy story-song "Tennessee Stud" and the frightening "Wreck on the Highway" or "Nashville Blues", all from the first half of the album.
