Avkrvst was formed by Martin Utby and Simon Bergseth - two musicians and friends who grew up together and made a pact that they would form a band when they were older. in 2023, 22 years later, an album is ready: 49 minutes of music inspired by everything they heard in their childhood - from Mew, Anecdotes and Porcupine Tree to Opeth, Neal Morse and King Crimson. "The Approbation" is a concept album about a dark soul left alone with only his thoughts, isolated in a cabin deep in the dark woods, far from civilization. The album takes the listener through the thoughts of a man struggling with the acceptance of death and being pulled into the abyss. Sonically, "The Approbation" is a massive sounding piece of music: it offers everything from lush, melancholic moods to heavy, aggressive atmospheres. It tries to capture the feeling of a cold, gloomy autumn - a dark sky filled with stars floating above the fog.
