"Nexus" is the joint instrumental album of Yes guitarist Steve Howe and his son Virgil Howe, who unfortunately died unexpectedly on September 11, 2017 at the age of only 41. On the day of his death, Virgil had approved a press release announcing the release of "Nexus" for November 17, 2017. Steve Howe decided a few weeks later to release the album as planned and explains: "Virgil and I had finished the album in August, which consists of eleven songs composed by him, which I completed with different guitars. We started "Nexus" in 2016 and it's based on his "stack" of piano pieces he sent Jan and me from time to time. I added guitar parts to them and he added more instrumentation. Small "duets" became sophisticated instrumental pieces. Only "Free Fall" and "Nick's Star" were from previous sessions, the latter being a tribute to his late best friend Nick Hirsch. "Nexus" shows a completely different side of his abilities as an independent songwriter and musician. He was so versatile talented, whether he was sitting in front of his computer or at the keyboard, acting at his DJ gigs or on the radio, he always gave his best. We hope that 'Nexus' will now be a fitting tribute to his life and work."
