Wanderer (CD)
It took WALDSONNE almost three years to complete their debut full-length album. Of 11 album-tracks of Wanderer (four tracks from their internationally acclaimed Strahl demo-EP are all re-recorded here), 5 are pure instrumental compositions, 1 comes with textless vocalization, 2 songs are sung in English, another 2 in German, and 1 is presented in Russian. The band combines clean mandolin, guitars, Irish harp, and violin into fairy acoustic blend of music with roots in medieval folk and heathen rite chants. The female singing leads the song at times strong and majestic though always tender and seductively romantic. On some tracks the quartet is supported by percussionists (Evgeny Tkachev of OPYCHAM, and Andrey Buratino of ARCHTHEATRE and EAE) and flutist (Helgi of EMBRACE OF BRANCHES). The instrumentation hovers and weaves freely while song-structures and arrangements are complex and thorough. The whole work shines with heartwarming and inspiring tones, it's all about magic and fascination but not about dark melancholy and depression. (11 tracks - 39 min.)
