IMMORTAL went for a different approach in black metal in this album than their previous works. The riffings and chords are almost definitely death metal influenced and are similar to Morbid Angel or Slayer at times. The "icy" bite to Demonaz's guitarwork is still there and interestingly Abbath's bass can actually be heard through all the arctic fury.
