High-quality instrumental ethnic prog (except for "Open Space," which falls into generic "free jazz" territory) made by an Iraqi expat in the US. The fact that Al Basim's host country would destroy his home country 25 years later gives the recordings a bittersweet aura probably unintended. Likewise, the hopeful statement on the record's back cover: "The human equality is still superior to every thing," assumes a tragic poignancy in light of contemporary events.
