Stars (CD)
Up to this point in her career, Cher mainly sang the music that was chosen for her by producers, or that was written for her by Sonny. With the "Stars" album from 1975, she chose to cover singer/songwriters that she was actually listening to at the time, that were influencing her in a new way. Jimmy Webb signed on as producer, and came up with a winning formula for Cher, giving her the most thought-out, consistent album up to that point. Stand out tracks include "Love Hurts" "Geronimo's Cadillac" "Love Enough" Clapton's "Bell Bottom Blues" and the Webb penned "Just This One Time" which has Cher giving her all vocally and displaying a range not heard until this point. Warner Brothers should re-release this in CD format, and Cher should have pushed it harder when it first came out.
