The musical movement known as 'The Canterbury Scene' produced a number of successful bands such as THE SOFT MACHINE, CARAVAN, and HATFIELD AND THE NORTH.
BEGGARS FARM tragically never had a chance to develop along with their contemporary's as lead singer JOHN TILLEY was sadly killed in a road accident. Formed in 1969, they were later joined by BRIAN HOPPER after the demised of THE WILDE FLOWERS, who played saxophone and flute, and later in his career joined SOFT MACHINE. The music on this album was recorded late 1969 and early 1970 in a makeshift studio in the back of a pub in Whitstable, and was released as a limited edition vinyl LP. The tapes were forgotten for many years until BRIAN HOPPER, in the process of working on the old recordings for THE WILDE FLOWERS re-issue remembered them.
