Pieces picks up where Begin left off, featuring the best of unreleased Millennium material. These songs were either left off their first album or intended for the never-released 1969 follow-up. The album was digitally remastered and includes exclusive liners by Jason Penick. It is essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! The Long Version: By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band's Begin album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by Columbia. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP.
