Brant Bjork does the chilled-out stoner rock just about as well as it can be done. Keep Your Cool, starts w/ the lazy "Hey, Monkey Boy," which is oddly poignant to anyone who's taken an extended vacation via unemployment. Two mellow rockers roll out next followed by the sensual "I Miss My Chick" and its charmingly ridiculous lyrics. The title track lives up to its name, setting up the pounding intro to "Gonna Make the Scene." "Searchin'" follows w/ a lurching bass line that makes it a standout track on the album. "My Soul," the album closer is another cool rocker w/ a bombastic intro and an extended jam section. Keep Your Cool has a consistent sound throughout but Brant mixes it up enough to keep interesting. If you can't get into it, you probably just need to relax.
