Here you have the old school numbers like "Ravenghast", "Ghosts" and "Hope Dies Young" and the more up to date songs like "The Devil Embraced" and the excellent album opener "Darker Thoughts". There are many details: guitar solos, vocal overlays, varied song sections, multiple melodies. On the surface this may seem like a straightforward album, it's anything but. You have the beautiful guitar tones, the mixture of clean and now epic growls from Nick Holmes, church organs and some - at times - exciting [can I use that word?] drumming from younger Fin Waltteri Väyrynen who has doubtless given the band some more energy.
