I vividly remember the flash I had when I discovered this twenty years ago. "Freedom's Rise" is a masterpiece of epic pure heavy metal the type of only the Americans were capable to deliver in the 80ies. The main attraction here is certainly vocalist Andy Michaud, totally OTT, reaching every high notes like if his life depended on it. Aggressive yet very emotional music, full of rage and passion! I think Liege Lord had never reached this perfection afterwards, even if the two following records are great and largely above average.
