The Meteors, the original creators of psychobilly music, began as a reaction to the mellow neo-rockabilly music of the late 70s rock revival era. The band was initially founded in 1979 under the name "The Legendary Raw Deal", but soon changed its name to "The Meteors". The band leader is singer and guitarist P. Paul Fenech from London. His adopted home is Milan. The abbreviation "OTMAPP", which is often used in connection with the band, means "Only The Meteors Are Pure Psychobilly".
