Akwassa was among Nigeria's best '70s Afro-beat bands. Having released 'La'ila' in 1975, the group was among the early Nigerian funk bands to get an album out. Akwassa was closely related to the Heads Funk Band, since most members played in
both acts. Akwassa originally was a duo made up of Felix Day (guitar and vocals) and Kevin Coburn (organ, synthesizer and vocals). Felix Day is actually Feladey, also known as the guitarist in Aktion (another top notch Nigerian band).
