"In Cauda Venenum", the new album from Opeth, is here. Three years after "Sorceress", which brought the band their first ever number one position in Germany, the Swedish progressive metallers return from the studio with longplayer number 13.
The result is surprising. Not only that Mikael Åkerfeldt and Co. chose a Latin title for the first time in their history, "In Cauda Venenum" is available in two versions, namely with English and Swedish lyrics.
And also musically Opeth have outdone themselves again. Darker progressive metal meets influences from rock, folk and jazz. Genre boundaries are already blurring in the songs.
How multifaceted "In Cauda Venenum" sounds is already shown by the first two singles "Hjärtat Vet Vad Handen Gör/Heart In Hand" and "Svekets Prins/Dignity".
