2019 studio album by progband from Cologne, Germany. "Just Some Flickering Lights" is an introduction that initially puts the edgy, subtly freaky moments in the foreground without giving up its yearning basic mood. In the end there is an interplay from hard to tender and back again. Something that the band has mastered excellently. Reminds at times of the middle to late phase PORCUPINE TREE, without MRS. KITE strive for the metallic hardness levels of Steven Wilson`s former band incarnation. RPWL are closer in terms of mood, with MRS. KITE always a bit grippier, less smooth. Eight of the ten songs are between four and a half and a good six minutes long, the epic "The Old Man" and Morning Hours "both exceed the ten minute mark. Boredom does not arise, because even with the long tracks there is no l'art pour l'art, the songs are well accentuated, the dramaturgy is right and melodically it is wonderfully psychedelic. Grounded through precise rhythm and playful and robust guitar parts. Also PINK FLOYD (with Roger Waters) can be proud of their heirs in some of the tracks on this album.
