Roland GASSIN is a French guitarist from the French area known as Provence. His debut album, "Electrode" (2008) aims to be a highly energetic concentrate of jazz, rock and electro. Our man sings and plays most of the instruments, mostly guitars obviously, but also bass and keyboards. However, the eleven original tracks don't sound like a solitary musician's opus, and this is no surprise, as several musicians have collaborated with Roland GASSIN: a vocalist, a fretless bass player, a trumpetist, a drummer, only to name a few ! Musically speaking, this is purely the French School of Eighties-like instrumental jazz-rock, somewhere around SIXUN or UZEB (French speaking Canadians), with a well affirmed personality however. Moreover, our man is a Progressive rock connoisseur, claiming influences of YES, KANSAS and PINK FLOYD. Isn't that a sign that he is fairly open-minded ? So don't hesitate to rush to this new release of the Great Winds label !
