Medieval Steel = Slipcase = (CD)
Medieval Steel was originally formed in Memphis, Tennessee in the spring of 1982. The band performed in local clubs before beginning to write their own material (which was later compared to Queensryche and Crimson Glory). "Once we solidified our lineup, we stepped up our live activities," explains singer Bobby Franklin today. "It was also clear to us that the next step was to compose our own material in order to gain a foothold in this business." It took another two years to find the four songs for their now legendary debut EP: "Medieval Steel", "Warlods", "Battle Beyond The Stars" and "Echoes". "When I wrote and recorded the material, I had no idea that it would take on a life of its own," says Bobby Franklin. He continues: "I think we had ten or eleven tracks to choose from. For financial reasons, we didn't record a complete album. The recordings themselves went quickly and smoothly. We practiced three or four hours a day for two weeks to be as prepared as possible. At that time we were all young lads and had regular jobs. We were sure that our music had that certain something.
