All Kinds Of People = Digipack = (CD)
he Rock'n'Roll Kamikazes are extremely serious about this rock'n'roll thing.
Already two years down the line since their first album "Tora! Tora! Tora!"
was released to wide critical aclaim and they've been bombarding and strafing
stages all of italy and europe with their original sound, not som much rockabilly
but a mean, fast rhythm and blues, with hints of swing and 60s soul.
The Kamikazes started out in 2010 when Andy Macfarlane stepped out from
the burning fuselage of The Hormonauts after 10 years of hormonizing around
the world, and teamed up with old friend Peppe DeGregoriis (drummer with
Little Victor and the Boomers, Alessandro Cicognani and other italian bluesmen)
and decided to show the world exactly where rock'n'roll was born...from the
blues.
Joined on double bass by Nicolò Fiori-moustached flying ace who has played
alongside the likes of Michael Goddard, Frank London and Aleksandar Rjkovic
(from Gorn Bregovic's line up) with his band Gatta Molesta, and on saxophone,
the Samurai of Swing, Guy Portoghese. Guy was the leader of Bari's Guy E Gli
Specialisti and brought to the Kamikazes some breathtaking sax solos, dirty low-
down blues harp playing and a whole lot of grinning, laughing fun! Sadly Guy
flew his last mission on October 4th 2012 and will be sorely missed. R.I.P. Guy.
Like all good pilots, the Kamikazes do not give up in the face of adversity and
have come bouncing back with a new album, "All Kinds Of People" on Go
Down Records (the Kamikazes fondly call GoDown the new Chess Records).
It's bluesier, its harder, it shrieks like Screaming Jay Hawkins and growls like
Howlin Wolf and there's even a track written and sung by Guy himself! (Tutti i
Venerdì).
The album introduces new recruit Eugenio Pritelli, guitarist and frontman
from the wild psychobilly phenomenon The Horrible Porno Stuntmen! His
razor-edged telecaster twang gives the band a new harder sound, and high-
lighting their punkier roots.
With this varied and explosive line- up The Rock'n'Roll Kamikazes have set
their sights on the target. No, it's not a simple aircraft carrier but nothing less
than world domination. The album is the fuse and the band is
