Takes A Trip (CD)
Don Shinn was an ex-The Soul Agent organist and his debut album (originally released in March 1969 on Columbia Records as "Temples With Prophets" - with an artist smoking cigarette on the front cover) was fascinating and truly awesome work, something like more mature and more intensive version of The Nice or Brian Auger's Trinity. This entirely instrumental, jazz-rock-classical monster was characterized by massive , bizarre and groovy Hammond organ sounds backed by powerful trio of Eastern-styled electric guitarist, solid bass player and very busy drummer. This CD release is based on French 1969 LP titled "Don Shinn...Takes A Trip" - released in a beuatiful , psychedelic cover !
