REO Speedwagon formed in 1967 and recorded eight studio albums before hitting pay dirt with 1980's ten million selling 'Hi Infidelity'; a record containing the all-conquering number one single 'Keep On Loving You'; but the follow up album 'Good Trouble', stalled at a meagre two million copies and failed to produce a big hit, exposing the band to talk of being a spent force. Nothing, however, could have been further from the truth.
There is an old adage - never write off a band until the fat lady sings. And for REO Speedwagon, historically always the underdogs, fuelled only by unswerving optimism, this was to be their finest hour. Faced with possible extinction if they were unable to come up with the goods for album eleven, they hunkered down, refocused and constructed a record every bit as accessible as 'Hi Infidelity'. Armed with better songs and a do or die attitude the results were spectacular.
